Nanclares, Crisopa 2020

Alberto Nanclares is an Albariño winemaker like no other. Farming a tiny 2.2 hectare plot (split into 12 parcels) in the Rías Baixas, he is solely devoted to this gorgeous grape variety. After a few years of conventional farming, he decided to abandon chemical treatments altogether and became fully biodynamic. His vineyards, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, benefit from daily sea breezes while the granitic soils bring incredible minerality and freshness to his wines. Simply put: Alberto makes serious wines for serious winelovers. Crisopa 2020, made from 100% Albariño, is his only orange wine; and with only 600 bottles made, is truly a thing of rare beauty. The nose has aromas of marmalade, charred tangerine peel, tea and sweet spices; finely tannic on the palate with a strong minerality and an incredibly supple, lengthy finish. Without a doubt one of the best orange wines we've had the pleasure of tasting.
